Geothermal

Efficient and clean renewable energy for heating, cooling and hot water.

Geothermal is a highly efficient renewable energy technology that takes advantage of the constant temperature of the earth beneath the surface. A heat pump transfers heat stored in the Earth or in ground water (aquathermal) into a building during the winter and transfers it out of the building and back into the ground during the summer. In other words, the ground acts as a heat source in winter and a heat sink in summer. Applications of this technology are for incredibly usefull for space heating, cooling, and hot water.

On the left you will see an easy to understand diagram of how this works and below are the three most common configurations used.

There are many benefits to utilizing a geothermal ground source heat pump. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has called ground source heat pumps the most energy-efficient, environmentally clean, and cost-effective heating/cooling and hot water systems available.

Heat pumps offer significant emission reductions potential, particularly where they are used for both heating and cooling.

We are not geothermal installers, but we are experienced with tying into the controls of geothermal units to integrate them into our systems. We are strong advocates of geothermal use and have worked with the top geothermal providers in BC. We can recommend several companies we feel are excellent in service.
